Twenty-Eleven’s Top Ten

The boys and I tried to decide what makes our top 10 memories for this year.  (Really, it went more like, “I don’t know, Mom-Mom.  All I can remember is Christmas.”)  But… after a bit of somewhat unlively discussion, we did finally think up some memories from before two weeks ago.  Not listed in any particular order, here’s our little list:

  • Gary started working for a Norwegian company called Ocean Rig.  This, in turn, sent him on trips to South Korea, Norway, and Tanzania.

  • We experienced a Swamp Tour given by a true, 100% authentic Ragin’ Cajun.  (We even pulled up alongside a momma alligator and her little babies.  We stopped short of petting them.)

  • Which came first: the chicken or the egg?  We started our family website and then officially named our farm Half-a-Hundred Acre Wood.

  • We experienced a Pow-Wow and live Zydeco and Bluegrass for the first time.
  • We discovered Nature Study.

  • We ate dinner in a diner car and stayed the night in a pullman at the Chattanooga Choo Choo.
  • We went on a Dolphin cruise off the coast of Florida.  All three boys flew in an airplane for the first time.

  • Stephen became a Memory Master, David learned to put his phonics sounds into words, and Levi learned to say “excabanger!” (while correctly identifying over ten types of construction vehicles and all the tools in his toolbox).  Amazingly, this took no educational effort on my part.
  • We walked through the Alamo.  It’s bigger than we thought it would be!
  • Our home has doubled in size this year.  It’s also bigger than we thought it would be!

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!
