Grapevine Biblical Calendar

This year, our family’s journey through the New Testament was complemented by a unique and engaging wall calendar by Grapevine Bible Studies. In addition to our regular New Testament studies, we’ve had the great privilege of learning more about Old Testament feasts and holy days (along with other Jewish and Christian history) through the Grapevine Biblical Calendar, a calendar which combines the Gregorian calendar with the biblical calendar. Drawing from biblical references, Christian tradition, and Jewish history, events have been drawn onto the calendar with stick figures. By relating the Scriptures to something we are all familiar with – a regular wall calendar – our family has started to gain understanding and insight that we did not realize in the past.  Not only has this calendar been a great discussion starter in our home, it has also introduced us to the names and pronunciations of the biblical months and caused us to search the scriptures in greater detail.

This resource consists of two items: A Wall Calendar and an optional (but very helpful) Calendar Notes booklet.  The wall calendar can be hung on the wall to be used during morning time as a simple way to discover which biblical events took place during each month.

The companion booklet provides further details, website references, and scripture passages relating to each month’s events.

Download samples here.In the past as I’ve read through passages of scripture with references to “Feast of Tabernacles…” or “Feast of Dedication…” I’ve often skimmed over them without a single thought. Now those feasts and holy days are placed into context for us as a family, and it provides a more fulfilling perspective of Scripture. I have so much to learn in this area, and this calendar is helping to close that gap more quickly.
I love that this study is so quick and easy to implement, that we can use it as a journaling prompt throughout the month, and that it creates discussions about events in the Bible that we would normally overlook. In fact, this calendar can be used as a simple springboard for Bible study year-round!
