Relating Earth Science to God’s World: A Child’s Geography

Explore God’s Earth with A Child’s Geography!

Years ago when I first came across A Child’s Geography: Explore His Earth, I mistakenly thought it was another world culture and geography atlas book. I flipped through the pages expecting descriptions and stories of countries and cultures but surprisingly found that it’s all about earth science! Since then, this book has become one of our top picks for learning about geology, weather, oceans, and globe markings.

This Christ-centered, narration-style approach to earth science is written in a tone of amazement and wonder by award-winning author Ann Voskamp. Students explore the atmosphere, continents and oceans, seasons and weather patterns, earth’s structure, plate tectonics, earthquakes and volcanoes, and globe markings. (For Classical Conversations Foundations parents, it includes great science connections for second semester of CC Cycle 1!)

Each unit includes readings, narrations prompts with memory joggers, community service ideas, “Too-Fun-to-Resist Excursion” activities, notebooking activities, supplemental reading lists, and ideas for connecting the content to world missions. (This is why it’s included as part of our Mission: World Wonders Curriculum during the second semester.)

Although A Child’s Geography: Explore His Earth is designed for grades 1-6, the lessons may be adjusted for older or younger students. This course may be completed in a year or a semester. Download a sample here to see if it would be a good fit for your family, too!
