Pocketful of Prayers

Due to circumstances in many of my friends’ and family’s lives, I’ve been thinking a lot about prayer, and how many times I’ve told someone, “I’m praying for you.”

I wonder… how many times have they actually believed me?

I want to be sure that when I say it, I really do mean it!   And I want others to know that when I tell them I’m praying for them, they also KNOW I mean it!

This desire led to the creation of a Pocketful of Prayers.  It’s a simple paper pocket to store handwritten post-it notes of prayers I’ve prayed for someone.  Not only does this help me to remember to pray for others, but when it’s all said and done, I can send these pocketful of prayers to the person I’ve prayed for.  They will be able to see the prayers I’ve prayed  – and hopefully it will encourage them…??  Because I struggle with focusing sometimes, I like to write many of my prayers down, anyway – whether it’s on post-it notes or in my journal…

This includes a template for an envelope, too. Just cut, fold along dashed lines, and glue side tabs to the large back flap.

So, what about those moments when I don’t even know what to pray?  I found a booklet called Praying in Victory from PrayingScriptures.com a few years ago.  I love this little 20-page booklet.

It starts with a list of promises from God’s Word about prayer and then provides a prayer (based on scripture) for the government, the nation, Jerusalem, missionaries, pastors, the pastor’s family, the church, relationships, children, needs, healing, and encouragement.  And what’s better than praying God’s Word?  This has given me a way to pray God’s will in my life, family, relationships, nation, and world.  And it is so wonderful reminding myself of God’s promises – and what His will is for my life and this world!  If you print it out in booklet form you can slide it into your Bible.
