Galveston, Pelican Island, and Mission Control: Texas {50 States}

Texas is a state we return to every couple of years due to our connections with the oilfield.

So… as Gary suffered under the stress of Water Survival Training in East Houston (where the astronauts train!), we ventured over to Galveston.  The boys loved walking on board a jack-up oil rig museum and learning a little bit more about the life that their dad lives when he goes to Brazil.

Gary, whatcha think?  Our boys might turn out to be good roughnecks some day!

We toured the USS Cavalla and USS Stewart at Sea wolf Park.

..and spent some time at Kemah Boardwalk.  Gary rode with the boys on a spinner-type ride to the point of nausea.

And ended our trip with a tour of Space Center Houston.

Visiting NASA’s Historic Mission Control was my favorite part!  [Just think about what took place in that room during the Apollo missions! ]

50-States-Before-They-Graduate

Our family aims to visit all 50 states together before our boys graduate from high school.  To take a look at some of the places we’ve been, visit our Traveling America posts.  If you’d like to offer suggestions for off-the-beaten-path places to visit in the 50 states, we would love your input!  Feel free to leave your comments and suggestions for your favorite state(s), or virtually visit the other states we’ve visited to offer your recommendations on those pages!  We’d love to read about your own family’s adventures… or to simply know about destinations you’ve enjoyed
